Ways to help

There are many ways that your parish or school community can get involved to meet the needs of migrant & refugee communities.

Financial Donation

Your compassion and kindness enable us to fulfil our mission; to empower communities, build strength and resilience and help everyone reach their full potential.

Together we can empower individuals and families in our community by helping them break down the barriers holding them back and transforming lives of vulnerable and marginalised people living in your neighbourhood and in the broader community.

Your donation shows your belief that every person deserves to live life to the full. Thank you!

Volunteering

Share your skills to support and empower vulnerable persons seeking asylum or newly arrived refugees and migrants.

By volunteering, you contribute to the settlement and integration of those newly arrived in the community.

Contact WACMRO if your parish or school is interested in forming a short-term volunteer group to assist migrants and refugees

Awareness-raising

Your parish and school community can host a World Day of Migrants & Refugees luncheon.

Your parish and school community can plan and celebrate a Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Mass or liturgy of the Word.

Your parish and school community can organise a Cultures Quiz Night.

Fundraising

Fundraising at school or in the parish is a fun and engaging way to bring everyone together and help raise awareness for social justice causes in keeping with Catholic Social teaching and the Gospel. You can make a positive impact to the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our community by fundraising together.

There are many ways you can fundraise. Here are a few ideas to get you started on your fundraising journey:

  • Host a morning Tea
  • Trivia night
  • Give it up for Lent
  • A physical challenge event

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respect to them and their cultures and to Elders past and present.
